This coming Wednesday, October 31, Surel’s Place will host the third installation of the ART/DIALOGUE series, curated by Ben Browne. Come spend this Halloween enjoying the odd, sweet, personal and political creations of Boise artist Cheryl Shurtleff.
A connoisseur of the simultaneously odd and beautiful, Ms. Shurtleff will be discussing the dolls she made out of the hair of her own pets and those of her friends. These quiet creations have a lot to say, so please come to Surel’s Place to hear about their provenance and ambitions.
A professor of art at Boise State University, Ms. Shurtleff is represented by OCHI gallery in Sun Valley, and her work is widely collected. Her most recent exhibitions include a current group exhibition of her drawing at Whitman College’s Sheehan Gallery and a spring 2012 group exhibition of the Congress of Curious Peoples at Coney Island. For more information about Ms. Shurtleff and her work, visit her website. .
6:30 pm to 8pm at 212 E 33rd Street, Garden City, ID 83714. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis for 20 participants.
Come help fill Surel’s home with art, artists, and talk about art; it is what she loved most and what Surel’s Place is all about. ART/DIALOGUE is free, but please consider donating to Surel’s Place to help cover cleaning costs.
The next scheduled ART/DIALOGUE is on Wednesday, December 5 with featured artist Jill Feterer.
