Today is Giving Tuesday, and we need your help! We are thrilled to announce that Surel’s Place has been awarded our first ever $4,500 WESTAF grant to provide support for the artists we bring to our community from out-of-town. While it is very exciting that we were given the maximum award of $4,500, this grant requires a one-to-one match, and we need your help to match these grant funds.

The impact of your matching donation will be powerful, enabling us to add some exciting elements and support to our programming. In addition to the living and travel stipends, we will also be able to compensate our artists for their community workshops for the first time. We’ll provide additional support for materials artists need to complete their work.

One of the biggest developments that will come out of this grant is our first ever Indigenous Artist Residency in partnership with the Indigenous Idaho Alliance. In June of 2024, we will be bringing Kit Julianto, an artist and musician from the Shoshone-Paiute Tribe, who will come to us from the Duck Valley Reservation.

In the coming year, we will also be sharing an exciting roster of artists and writers with you from Kentucky, Massachusetts, Ohio, and even Poland! We’d be so grateful for your support to meet the obligations of this new grant opportunity.
