Two Public Art Opportunities Open This February

Idaho artists have the chance to apply for two art opportunities this month — one in Boise and the other in McCall.

Linen District Fence in Boise

A $4,000 public art project in Boise is open again for artist proposals.

The city’s Department of Art and History displays new work on a fence on Grove Street in the Linen District for one year. Past artists have included artists familiar to Surel’s Place and the Garden City Placemaking Fund, including April VanDeGrift and Miguel Almieda. Local artists are strongly encouraged to apply and applicants must be 18 years or older. The application deadline is 1 p.m. February 28. More details can be found here: Call for Artists – 2023 Linen District Fence, and artists can apply here: Linen District Fence 2023 Application.

Mural Mentoring in McCall

The City of McCall is seeking a professional mural artist and arts educator to mentor up to three emerging artists ages 17 and up during the design, site preparation and installation of a large-scale mural on an exterior wall in the downtown core of McCall. The project’s budget is set at $23,000. This opportunity is open to artists living within Idaho and is scheduled for completion in fall 2023.

Anyone with questions can contact McCall’s Economic Development Planner Delta James at (208) 634-3504 or djames@mccall.id.us.
