Biography

Candis Redfield-Darrah is a mixed media visual artist living in Nampa. During her residency, Redfield-Darrah created a small body of work that examines our material culture. Drawing from her own self-cultural understanding and some pre-selected objects, she created daily data or a codex of things: stories, daily behaviors, memories, interviews, and observations to form narrative pieces exploring her material culture. In this narrative and qualitative approach, she explored connections with the wider cultural and social meaning of objects.

Redfield-Darrah received a Bachelor’s in Fine Art from Boise State University in 2013.

LIVE VIRTUAL EVENT
ARTIST TALK: CANDIS REDFIELD-DARRAH
Sunday, February 28th  |  2:00pm

Redfield-Darrah presented a collection of small paintings, drawings, journal entries, text, textile, and photographs created during her residency. This project is a starting point to deepen our understanding of such questions as “Why do we collect the things we do?” and “Why do we value what we value?”
