Sean Dahlman

(Boise) Artist Website Artist-in-Residence April Residency Year: 2016

Biography

Boise-based composer and musician Sean Dahlman was Surel’s Place’s artist-in-residence during April of 2016. With a BA in Music Theory and Composition from the College of Idaho, Dahlman’s compositions have been performed at the Boise Art Museum (score for a screening of Nosferatu), Boise Contemporary Theater (score for A Fisherman and His Soul) and the Egyptian Theater (score for a screening of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari).

While in residence, Dahlman continued working on a three-movement piece “that emphasizes the incredible range and vocal agility of the soprano.” For the culmination of his residency, Dahlman hosted an event called “The Vocal Etude”, which included a performance of part of his new work. The performance featured Jordan Bowman, Boise’s own award-winning soprano who has performed with Opera Idaho, Sun Valley Opera and Boise Contemporary Theater.

Surel’s Place would thanks The College of Idaho and Idaho Shakespeare Festival for supporting Dahlman’s residency.
