APPEAL FOR ARTS ADVOCACY

Surel’s Place has long been a haven for artists, a place where creativity is nurtured, and where our community can connect. We have been proud to host residencies, workshops, exhibitions, and events that are vital to the cultural landscape of Garden City and beyond.

Due to the recent dismantling and unpredictability of federal arts funding, countless arts organizations throughout our country who have relied on funding for their core programming and outreach efforts are now facing a significant gap in their operating budget. So, too, does Surel’s Place potentially face a substantial gap in our operating budget because we annually rely on grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), Creative West, and the Idaho Commission on the Arts.

Surel’s Place is an essential gathering place for creativity, connection, and free expression. In a time when open dialogue and the arts are facing new challenges, our community needs places where ideas and voices can flourish.

Surel’s Place stands as a beacon for meaningful conversation and artistic exploration. We bring people together, spark curiosity, and remind us all of the power of art to connect and inspire – especially when it feels like our voices and our communities are being threatened.

In these divisive times, we need to hold onto what connects us. Because of this, our commitment to our mission at Surel’s Place and the Arts remains unwavering. Please join our board in advocating for the arts, our artists, and the nonprofit community.

SUPPORT

Giving has always been the cornerstone of every arts nonprofit and every gift makes a difference. Please consider these two community-based ways to give to Surel’s Place:

GIFT OF YOUR ATTENTION
Attending events and inviting friends supports our artists and community directly, reminding us that the Arts are vital and should be accessible to everyone. If you are new to our programming or need help staying connected, you can subscribe to our events calendar.

GIFT OF YOUR TIME
Volunteering supports our staff and board directly, allowing our programming to run seamlessly from First Fridays, to our annual fundraisers, and all our in-house art events. To get involved, please email us at board@surelsplace.org or fill out the Volunteer Interest Form. We also accept in-kind donations (services or supplies) that benefit our programming and our artists.

Thank you, once again, for your unwavering support and belief in the work of Surel’s Place and the Arts in Idaho and beyond. We are so glad you are here.
