Laurie Shapiro creates all-encompassing, visually stimulating installations using a layering technique that combines painting, screenprinting, sewing, and sculpture. The environments created transport viewers into psychedelic womb-like environments: handcrafted, vibrant, and filled with patterns and colors that invite interaction and meditation. While at Surel’s Place, Laurie created various pieces using mixed media textiles and painting techniques. As a hard-of-hearing artist, she used her own mediation techniques to engage with the landscape of Idaho, creating new pieces that reflects her experiences and observations. Laurie is eager to engage with the community and share her work reflecting the natural beauty and diversity of Idaho. Laurie will also have prints and other work available for purchase.
