2019 Artist-in-Residence Returns to Play Treefort Music Fest

Musician and scholar Julian Saporiti will be performing on the KIN stage at the Treefort Music Fest this month. His musical project, No-No Boy, has been called “an act of revisionist subversion” by NPR.

As artist-in-residence in September of 2019, Saporiti explored Idaho’s history around the concentration camps into which the U.S. government forced citizens of Japanese decent during World War II — and incorporated his experiences into the No-No Boy repertoire, which builds off Asian American experiences including Saporiti’s own family’s during the Vietnam War.
