Biography
Kara Yannon (MO) is a songwriter and choir teacher whose artistic voice has grown at the intersection of composition and education. Writing songs began as a personal practice, a way of shaping feeling into melody, but teaching reshaped how she understood music entirely.
During her residency, she will explore music as a living language through immersive, community-based compositional practice. She will host modal tonal “sound baths” (beginning with Lydian) featuring guided audiation, vocal layering, and spontaneous harmonic dialogue.
Kara will also participate in Surel’s Place’s pARTner Schools Program in collaboration with local students and One Stone. This project is supported in part by a grant from the City of Boise’s Department of Arts & History.
